Electrical Service Upgrades with New Underground Conduit and Gas Line Extensions

Electrical Service Upgrade - New Underground Conduit
With the rise of electric vehicles and major home remodels such as adding an ADU, upgrading electrical service in the San Jose area has become a common investment. Many homes have 100-amp service and need to upgrade to a 200-amp service to power their EV charging and account for future needs.
Upgrading your electrical service is not just a panel upgrade. Your electricity provider will usually require an increase in the wire capacity of your home. This is where Freedom Underground, an A-General Engineering and Plumbing licensed contractor comes in. We have the license, expertise, and tools to get a new electrical conduit installed. We do not do your panel upgrade which requires a licensed electrician. We augment what your electrician can provide with cost-effective trenching or trenchless installation of conduit.
The General Engineering License allows us to work on public streets and sidewalks. It is also required to obtain an Encroachment Permit from the local Public Work Department. If your electrician does not have this license, they can sub-contract such work to us, a specialist in undergrounding electrical conduit and other utility lines.
We use trenchless methods for conduit installation whenever possible to minimize cost and landscape disruption.
If you need to upgrade or add an electrical service and need a new underground conduit installed, once you have approval and a construction plan with your electrical service provider, please email it to us at 📩 [email protected]. Alternatively, you can call or text us at 📞1-408-693-6018 or use our contact form for a free estimate. Electrical Utility Providers will often dictate where and how they want conduit installed and if a larger utility box in or near the sidewalk is required.

Please note that if your provider is PG&E, you must already have filed for the upgrade with PG&E and have a PG&E-assigned project manager. If your provider is not PG&E, your local provider likely will have similar requirements. In either case, we need the approved plans from your electricity provider to provide you with the most accurate electrical conduit estimate. In some cases, the upgrade will include some work on the public sidewalk in addition to an underground conduit line and we cannot know this until the service provider has supplied their requirements.
